Heat exchanger baffle is an internal component used in shell and tube heat exchangers, mainly to improve fluid flow and mixing degree, thereby improving heat transfer efficiency.
The baffle plate forms obstacles inside the shell of the heat exchanger, changing the direction and velocity of fluid flow, and forming multiple flow areas in the shell side. This not only increases the heat transfer area, but also helps to prevent dead corners and dead zones caused by long-term lateral flow of fluid in the shell side.
The design and selection of baffle plates need to consider multiple factors, such as medium characteristics, flow rate, pressure, and heat conduction. The number, spacing, shape, and arrangement of baffle plates can all affect the performance of the heat exchanger. For example, a sufficient number and spacing of baffle plates can ensure fluid mixing and exchange in different areas, while appropriate shape and arrangement can help overcome the influence of gravity, reduce pressure loss and fluid fluctuations.
